Plant Mate Bolognese
for 4 servings

1 bag of Plant Mate Mince, 125g
½ dl oil
2 dl onion, diced
2-4 cloves of garlic, chopped
4 dl mushrooms, sliced
3 dl carrot in thin slices
1 dl green celery, chopped
6 dl water
1 can of chopped tomatoes, 400g
2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar or apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoon sweet paprika
2 teaspoon oregano or thyme
½ teaspoon of cane sugar (can be omitted)

  • If you want the sauce to have a deeper red colour, a small part of the water can be replaced by beetroot juice.

  1. Fry onion and garlic in olive oil for a few minutes.
  2. Add mushrooms, carrots, salt and spices.
  3. Add water, Plant Mate Mince, the can of tomatoes, celery – and heat the dish to boiling point. Stir well so that Plant Mate Mince is well mixed with the other ingredients.
  4. Turn the heat down and let the dish simmer under lid for approx. 15 minutes at middle heat.
  • Sprinkle the dish with grated parmesan cheese and serve with mashed potato or root vegetable puree or pasta.

  • Plant Mate Bolognese can also be used as the sauce in a lasagne.
